Covid Groupthink (Fear)

I raised my girls to be hyper aware of our human tendencies toward group think. 

It starts with good ole “make nice” pressures like, be kind, turn the other cheek, we are all in this together. It’s really hard to find negativity to these sweet statements as we all try to manage our busy lives. 

Next, we need to protect the most vulnerable around us. This seems biblical as well (it’s not but that’s for another blog.) You must be a cruel and uncaring slob not to act in a manner that is destructive to the poor, the sick, the old, what is the matter with you?

Add Fear. Network news took it to a whole new level in 2020. Lockdown everything, isolate everybody and then bully everyone into a face diaper when we re-emerge many months later (so much for two weeks.) 

So here we are, summer 2021, and the groupthink has overpowered reason, critical thinking, privacy rights, speech rights, autonomy, free will, etc.
